The Sixth Sense You Forgot You Had

I saw Spiderman: Far From Home recently and let me tell you? AMAZING! It was so good. In the movie, Peter Parker has his “peter tingle” (at least that’s what Aunt May calls it) that helps him know when danger is nearby. It’s really just his spidey senses.sffh_venice-high-res When Peter started trusting his “peter tingle”, he was able to conquer the obstacles in front of him. And that had me thinking: Peter’s spidey senses are really just his sixth sense. If Peter can use his sixth sense, what about us? If we begin to trust how God speaks to us through discernment, through our gut instinct, through that feeling of “something just isn’t right”, how much can we succeed or how much trouble can we avoid? 13-miles-morales-lede.w700.h700James 1:5-6 states, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.”

Believe God will give you the wisdom for a situation. After praying and reviewing the knowledge, wisdom, and discernment the Lord has given you, trusting your gut instinct will help you figure out your obstacles. The Holy Spirit lives inside of you and speaks to you through your gut instinct. The Holy Spirit helps you discern what is right from wrong.

When you learn how to sit still in a quiet place with God (especially through prayer), learning the difference between your human gut instinct and spiritual gut instinct will strengthen you. God is always there to protect you. That’s why we have the Holy Spirit living inside of us. Devon Franklin states in his book, The Hollywood Commandments, “when we follow our gut instinct it tends to make us uncomfortable, but the benefit is we are one step closer to our goal by stepping out of our comfort zone.”5d14a74ad27a0401b349a313-750-375 Let’s learn how to strengthen our sixth sense. Through spending time with God and having faith in Him that He will always come through, you may begin to have a strong “peter tingle” like Peter Parker.

God speaks to us and when we get in tune with how He speaks and trust our gut feeling, we can accomplish so much.

Have your spider senses been tingling lately?
